7th VARADHAN MEMORIAL ROLLING TROPHY

(Inter College Cricket & Basket Ball Tournament)
From  4th February 2009 to 19th February2009

The Varadhan Memorial Inter-collegiate Cricket  & Basket Ball Tournament was conducted in a colourful manner. Our Honorable Chairman  Shri Kesavan   inaugurated the tournament. Our respected Managing Director Shri. M.Dhanasekaran gave away the Key note address  and honourable Secretart Shri S.V.Sugumaran, our beloved Principal Dr.V.Ilangovan felicitated the function. The Head of various Department, Administrative Officer and members of the Staff were present on the occasion.

This Rolling trophy is conducted every year in memory of the great philanthropist, late Mr.Varadhan, the elder brother of our Honourable Chairman. The  inaugural  match was played between VRS College of Engineering & Technology and Christ Engineering College, Puducherry.

Around 35 teams from various colleges participated in the cricket tournament and 18 teams in the Basketball tournament .All the Heads of the Department and the senior staff were felicitated in the tournament.In the final, Tagore Arts college, Puducherry took on Host team Mailam. Tagore Arts College  Puducherry won the match and clinched the trophy. Runner up was Mailam Engineering College, Mailam. Bharathiyar Engineering College and Saradha Gangadharan Arts & Science College , Puducherry were placed Third and Fourth respectively.

        Our venerable Managing Director. Shri.M.Dhanasekaran gave away the Man of the Match  award on  the eve of the finals. In the Basketball Tournament ,the finals was between IFET college of Engineering,  Kengarampalayam and Mailam Enginerring College, Mailam. IFET lifted the trophy and Mailam Engineering College was placed Runner . Third Place was bagged by Karpaga Vinayagar Engg College and Varadhan Memorial Team bagged the Fourth  place.

Mr. K.Velmurugan, Director of Physical Education welcomed the gathering  Our Honorable Chairman Sri. Kesavan , Our Respected Managing Director ,Shri.M. Dhanasekaran ,Honorable Secretary Shri .S.V. Sugumaran, and our beloved Principal Dr.V.Ilangovan felicitated the function.

Our Honorable Guest Mr.E.MA. Masanamuthu, I.P.S.,Deputy Inspector General of  Police, Villupuram Range, gave away the prizes and cash award of Rs 5000 to the winners and Rs 2500 for Runners up. Man of the series was awarded to MR. Ram of Tagore Arts College.
