This lab is equipped with lathes ranging from all geared type to CNC trainer lathe and special purpose machines like milling, shaping, surface grinder, tool & cutter grinder, gear hobbing, slotting and drilling machines. Cutting tool dynamometers to study the cutting forces of the tools. Students are trained with gas and arc welding exercises.

MANUFACTURING LABORATORY

The CAD lab comprises of 10 Pentium III, 850 MHz systems loaded with AutoCAD 2000i on windows platform. The lab is also equipped with other advanced industry oriented software like Pro –E, IDEAS, FEA and ANSYS 8i to make the student to fit in the current industrial automation.

HYDRAULICS LABORATORY

Different types of flow measuring devices like pitot tube, venturimeter, flow meter etc to study the flow process and its losses, Buoyancy and floatation test.

Hydraulic turbines like Francis and Pelton wheel, centrifugal, reciprocating, gear oil, submersible and jet pumps to study the Electro-mechanical energy conversions.

MATERIALS TESTING LABORATORY

The lab houses in it Universal testing machine (40 tonnes), Brinell’s and Rockwell hardness, impact, spring, wood and plastic testing machines to test the strength of the materials.

METALLURGY LABORATORY

Microscope, specimen preparation, cutting and polishing machines to identify the structure of the metals, heat treatment furnace to study the change of properties at elevated temperatures.

INSTRUMENTATION AND DYNAMICS LABORATORY

The lab is complimented with an array of optical, magnetic and transducer devices.

Pressure, temperature and speed measurements, force, torque and power measurement by load cell and dynamometers, velocity, acceleration and vibration measurement, LVDT and strain gauges.

Study of governors, gyroscope, static and dynamic balancing. CAM analysis and vibration equipment.

METEROLOGY LABORATORY

All types of precision measuring devices for linear, angular, gear tooth measurement, profile projectors and comparators.

THERMAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY

The lab is well equipped with the following test rigs to facilitate the students to carry out research, project and consultancy works, different types of IC engines and its cut models, heat transfer devices, refrigeration and air condition test rigs, air compressor, blower, calorimeter, Redwood and Saybolt viscometer, fuel testing equipment, steam boiler and turbine, Orsat apparatus.

BASIC WORKSHOP

This lab comprises of carpentry, smithy, sheet metal, foundry and fitting. This lab trains the first year students in the nuances of carpentry,  and fitting.

SPECIAL FEATURES

SYMPOSIUM: Our Mechanical Engineering Students Association has organized a National Level Student Technical Meet ‘MECHSPIDE ’ in order to bring out the inborn talents of the budding Mechs. More than 50 colleges have responded to our invitation.

Students are encouraged to undergo in plant training and industrial visits to study the shop floor problems. They include a few public sectors corporate like NLC, BHEL, SAIL, IGCAR, ASHOK LEYLAND LTD., L& T., MADURA COATS, HMT, CATERPILLAR (I) LTD, BINANI ZINC etc.
