With technology and business in a state of flux, speed of thought and competitiveness are the criteria, which separates the best from the rest. In order to equip our students with the most current in this ephemeral technological field we have set up a state-of-the-art laboratory, which is upgraded periodically. We have also added latest topics like VLSI design and Embedded Technology to keep students aware of the recent changes. Students are offered VLSI design as an elective in the sixth semester. This helps them a lot when they attend their placement interviews.

Electric control lab

Measuring the unknown resistance, inductance and capacitance.

Verification of various theorems like Thevinin's theorem, Norton's theorem, Maximum power transfer theorem, Superposition theorem, Verification of Kirchoff's law, study the characteristics of filters and resonance circuits.

Electronic control and design lab

Designing of different oscillators, multivibrators, amplifier circuits.

Electronics devices and control lab

Plot the characteristic curves for CE, CB, UJT, FET, SCR.

Plot the frequency response of CE, CB, CC amplifiers and power amplifiers.

Communication lab

Generation of modulated signals such as PAM, PDM, PWM, AM, FM and regenerating the original signals from the modulated signals.

Digital system design lab and signal processing lab

Construction of different combinational and sequential circuits.

Solving Mat lab programs such as response to linear difference equation, convolution, windows time series computation. Implementation of FIR and IIR filters in DSO processor, sampling and waveform generation, fast fourier transforms, DSP projects.

Microprocessor and control lab

It is a fully air conditioned laboratory equipped with 8085/8086 trainer kits, interfacing boards and analog to digital converters for executing basic programs and interfacing programs.

ELECTRONIC SYSTEM DESIGN LAB

Electronic system design lab includes the design of AM / FM  transreceiver, Programmable logic controller, process control timer, AC/DC voltage regulator, Switched mode power supply, Wireless data modems, PCB layout using CAD, Microprocessor based system, DSP based system in advanced level.

MICROWAVE AND OPTICAL COMMUNICATION LAB

Characteristics of Reflex klystron oscillator, Gunn diode oscillator, Radiation pattern of Horn Antenna, Time division Multiplexing, Data transmission through Fiber optic link, Optical transmission using Analog Modulation.

Department activities

Electronics & Communication students association "COMMTRONICS" was inaugurated on 16th August 2002 by Dr.M.Arumugam, Principal, REC, Trichy.

Guest lecture on "SPINTRONICS" was given by Mr.S.Jayasamraj, Deputy Director, NPTI- Neyveli.

Many of the students has udergone training in various industries and institutions.
