The alumni of Mailam Engineering College gathered enthusiastically at large for the Mailam Engineering College Alumni Association meeting and to celebrate the Engineers’ Day in a grand manner on 24th September, 2008 The Chairman of the college Mr.N.Kesavan presided, Managing Director Mr.Dhanasekaran and Mr.Sugumaran, Secretary felicitated. Principal Dr. A.T. Ravichandran welcomed. In the presidential address, Mr. Kesavan mentioned the importance of engineers in the growth of our country in general and rural sector in particular. He stressed that engineers should come forward, to serve for the cause of the rural masses through their innovative ideas. He remembered the service rendered the eminent engineer Sir. M. Visveshwaraiah to our country on the occasion of the engineers day celebration. He pointed out the role to be played by the alumni for the growth and welfare of their juniors through alumni association – by assisting them in placement, training programs, higher studies in abroad, instituting awards and prizes in the name of alumni to encourage juniors, donating their books and other study materials to the deserving juniors, etc. An interactive session was arranged for the final year students with the alumni, where the seniors shared their experience after graduation and the difficulties they faced in getting placement. They also advised their juniors to equip themselves with all the skill viz. technical and soft skills, to do well in the company’s selection. Earlier an election was held for the executive committee, and elected members were installed as office bearers of the association by the Principal.
